I am in a similar situation. I was just in an interview for a position at AT&T. I have 5 years experience in customer service. I offered advanced tech support for satellite tv customers as well as for internet customers. I do have a felony conviction on my record from 1996. I caused a car accident when I was 17 and wreckless. I was told during this interview, that if I have ever had a felony for any reason, then I will not be hired for this position. I was in a class of about 15 people, and I am probably more qualified than any of them. I feel like I was discriminated against. I paid my debt to society and have had a clean slate ever since. This was not part of my sentence and is violating my right to work. There should be some law to protect us form this type of discrimination. If a guy who touches kids wants to work at a desk. Then, he should be allowed to. If a guy who beats people up, wants to build a house. then let him. If a guy causes a car accident, then why can't he provide phone support for customers???
It just doesn't make sense!
