[[/B]My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA
7 months ago I was arrested for posession of a controlled substance (cocaine). It wasnt mine but due to the circumstances by it being closest to me in the car the police officer charged me with it. The person whose it was did not own up to it so I was forced to deal with the consequences. Aside from that, I enrolled into a diversion program (pc1000) and completed it sucessfully. The charges will be dropped from my record in one yr. My question is: I am currently in college with a 3.5gpa, honors classes, volunteer work, etc. Have no previous record whatsoever. I intend on getting my masters degree and trying to get into homeland security. What I wanna know is, I will be done with college in approx 4 yrs (after grad school). With that period of time and good grades and outside volunteer work is there still a chance for me to work for a federal law enforcement agency like homeland security??? I am really concerned about this cause this has been something I wanted to do for a long time but due to my complete lapse in judgement I feel I ruined my chances. I have heard mixed stories from different people, from customs, to police officers, to lawyers.
Thank you
