My question involves a background check in the State of: Ohio
My husband got involved with drugs when he was 20. (He is 38 now) He was convicted of theft at that age and was given 6-25 years. He had parole then would get out and go back after committing a crime because of his addiction. He finally got everything together and finished up all his legal problems and got clean. He has been out of the legal system for 2 years and clean from drugs for 3. He has applied for over 200 jobs and 90% turned him down because of his record.
Is there any thing he can do to become employable again? Isn't this discrimination? Even the people who have on the application that your record won't bar you from employment, he has been told that it does. His record is not expungable. We are struggling financially and really need some advice about what he can do legally to allow him to be employable.
