My question involves defamation in the state of California
My wife recently went on one of those court daytime TV shows. The judge only listened to her ex and his lies, and then proceeded to insinuate that my wife steps out on me while I am out of town and sells herself, and also that my friends snicker at me and laugh behind my back because my wife cheats on me. This statement is absolutely NOT true. My wife and I have a very close relationship, and she is an extremely loving and caring mother to our infant daughter. For him to even say this is insulting to my character and the sanctity of my marriage. My wife is also very well educated and makes more money than I do. When this show airs will I have a case for libel? There were about 60 people on the set. I was not present and I did not sign any form of paperwork relating to this show. I am a soldier with 9 years in The Army, and multiple combat deployments. This judge stating factually that I am a laughing stock to my friends due to the fidelity of my marriage is a lie. It is also very disturbing and insults the values I live by.
