My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: CA
Does Loss of Use apply to rental cars in the state of CA? What about the rest of the country?

What are you talking about?
Sorry, loss of use refers to the scenario in which you rent a car and damage it. While the car is in the repair shop it cannot be rented so, in many states, you are responsible for lost revenue that could have been made on the car. That is "loss of use". Heard of it?
Do you mean that you rented a car and that you DID NOT take out any coverage? You relied on your own insurance company to back you up, correct?
Yes, although your insurance may cover the cost of repair to the rental car you are still responsible for the days the car is out of service to the rental car company. I have read that in every rental contract from the LARGE rental companies. Most think that the $19.99 per day coverage is way too high and they dont take it figuring that their own insurance will cover the car.
Yes that is true but you own insurance does not cover the "out of service" period that the rental car companies provided insurance does if you elect to take that coverage. Calif is included in the rental car contracts.
Thanks for the response. Just what I was looking for.
