My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Michigan.
My husband was recently fired from a job of 10 years. When they terminated him, they did not give him a reason. Just told him thanks for the service but it's no longer needed. He filed for unemployment that week. He received a denial a week or so later. The company claimed that they told him at the beginning of his shift that he had to stay and work over time that morning. He told them that he couldn't as he had plans (he worked 3rd shift). So, the reason for denial was that he deliberately disregarded the company's best interest. The night that he was told he had to stay was Sunday and he wasn't fired until Thursday morning. Prior to him being fired, he was told by others on his shift that their direct supervisor was telling them that he was going to be fired. He filed a re-evaluation and was denied again.
Is there any further action we can take with this?
