My question is about reckless driving from the State of: Tennessee
It happened with me a few weeks ago in a public university campus. I was about to take a left turn to park my car (driving about 5-7 MPH) in the parking lot and a lady overtook me at a high speed from the left. She was about to hit me as we were just 5-6 feet apart. I stopped all of a sudden (while making the turn) as I sensed there's someone at the left. The marked speed limit is 15 MPH and she ran over the white parking lines at a very high speed. Although I was not hurt but I was shocked for a moment.
I would like to know if it's allowed to overtake someone in a parking lot. I had a word with a high authority personnel and she told me that I should have used indicator to park my car, which I don't believe. I have never read anything about using indicator before parking.
I still don't know if it was my fault or her fault. The only two things that I found were "following too closely" and "reckless driving".
Does anyone have a clue of whose mistake was this? Was my not giving indicator a mistake or her overtaking me?
This case has not been reported to the police. I am just curious to know the answer.
