Default No Citation Or Court Date, More Than Two Months Later

My question involves a reckless driving ticket from the State of: washingont

I was driving and was speeding down a road and it was foggy outside at night and I saw a set of head light in a drive way and as soon as I passed it I knew it was a police so I kept speeding in hopes that i would pass him and he wouldn't noticed. lol it didnt work. So the police officer pulls me over and goes thru the process and he tells him that I'm being arrested for reckless driving and let me drive off, the other officers around said that the officer who pulled me over was being very nice because he didn't impound my car or send me to the station. I thanked the officer and was on my way. He never gave me any paper work at the scene

2 months later I still haven't recieved word from the police and I sent a e-mail to the station asking if i had a court date and they asked what happened so i told them that i was pulled over on april 1st and they said that they have no record of me being pulled over that day. and they asked me to send them a e-mail describing the situation, and i told them that i don't think that would be a good idea, i don't want to confess to anything without a lawyer's advice. so i left it at that.

I was wondering since reckless driving is a felony i believe in washington would they have classified this under something else or do you think the person who checked was looking for a speeding ticket and in the wrong database?

What do you guys think i should do?

Reckless is a misdemeanor, not a felony, but it's still a fairly serious offense -- punishable by up to a year in prison, a $5,000 fine (or both), plus a 30-day license suspension.

If you're sure you've got the right police station, I'd call back and ask which court they file their tickets with. Then call the court and see if they have anything. It really wouldn't pay to ignore this and find out the ticket got lost in the mail, you missed your court date, and now there's a warrant for your arrest.

    Good luck,
    Barry
