My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
I was charged with shoplifting during December (i think) of 2007. I am currently on a payment plan and currently have a $150 balance that I need to pay. I've already paid off $75 of my original $225 charge.
I wasn't arrested, and this is the only thing that I've been contacted with that I have to do. I don't know if this counts as a misdemeanor (I'm pretty sure what I attempted to steal was under $200), or if when I pay this off, if it'll still be on my record or what.
The thing is, no one knows about this. I haven't told a single person.
So I just got an underage possession charge on May 30, a little over a week ago. I didn't get arrested for that, but I do have to go to court on June 23. (To see details on that charge, I've posted it under the title "Underage Possession Charge... but I got put in a headlock...?")
I'm wondering if the shoplifting charge will come up in court. I'm not sure if my parents will be there (I'm 19 years old), but I don't want them to find out about it.
???
