    Question Disorderly Conduct Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: CT

I just had to unfortunately pick up my brother after he was arrained (spelling?) for disorderly conduct. I need to know if I need to get him a lawyer..... I won't bore you with all the details so here's long story short. My brother stopped a fight between his friend & another guy. The guy took his cane & hit my brother with it (he has a nice welt & bruise from it which I took a picture of today). My brother then grabbed the cane & went to toss it when the guy grabbed it again & tried to CHOKE MY BROTHER with the cane. A neighbor saw all this occur as well as my brother's friend. he then pushed the guy and asked the lady neighbor to call the cops. The guy got in his car & took off. my brother's friend, he, and the neighbor lady waited 15 minutes for the cops, still didn't come. My brother's friend leaves because he has an interview to goto. So it's my brother & the neihbor lady. My brother got arrested!!!! The lady there even said that he only tried to break up the fight, but the cop said someone has to be arrested & seeing he's the only one left, he gets arrested.

now here's the sticky part... my brother is in a position at work where if he has ANYTHING on his record he will be FIRED... ANYTHING AT ALL INCLUDING TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS!!! His stupid person who was there today to help him said not 1 word & told me in private "so what if he get charged, CT has a 1st time offender program". I at this point was severly annoyed because I told this guy TWICE (I'm I'm not one for repeating myself) that if he has ANYTHING at all on his record he will LOSE HIS JOB!!! Obviously the guy didn't care & he had the gall to tell me he didn't ever read the police report.

So I pose this question.... Do I need to lawyer up my brother???? he has a hearing in 2 weeks. My faith in the state people to help him is severly faultered now after what that idiot did today, a rock would have been better assistance!!!

    Thank you!

Your brother should be eligible for a court-appointed lawyer, or he can retain a lawyer. If you're willing to help him hire a lawyer, I hope he appreciates your generosity.

There is always something missing in a story. If what happened is what happened then your brother can likely have the case dismissed with the help of a good criminal defense lawyer and if he agrees to not sue the officer for false arrest or file a complaint against the officer.

    I say lawyer up!
