Hello Broke One. Thanks for your reply.
This home and property is in poor condition. After my grandparents died, (My Dad and his Dad built this home long, long ago), my Dad really didn't do much with the place. It was just too painful for him to be out there. When my Dad unexpectedly died, my siblings and I lived far from the property. We also, did nothing with the home for some time. It stood in disrepair. My brother decided to move back into the home, he was very close with my grandparents. I know they are smiling bc he is living there. He has started a slow and arduous repair of the home. One of the reasons he's asked to have the home in his name is bc he cannot insure the home or its contents as is currently sits. If someone comes on the property and falls and breaks a leg, what happens? They sue us? I have NO plans of ever returning to the property. I don't think my other sibling does either. Also, and this is BIG I think, the value of the home and property was not enough to pay off even one of my creditors. The home as it stands, would most likely appraise for $5k, it's a very small 2 bdrm. The property may allow another $250 p acre @ 4 acres. We're not talking real estate investment here. The property is rural. The closest town is at least half an hour away. It has always been that way. There are no economic resources to merit industry moving in that direction.

I really really feel like I've made a huge mistake. I don't want everyone else to pay for my stupidity. I'm still trying to educate myself on how to handle this odd situation. I'm not convinced at this point the property is the property of my BK estate, as you mentioned in your post. See below.

To anyone else whose reading this post....Does anyone know anything about Napoleonic Law? I'm trying to become familar with this Louisiana law. It seems that this property will NOT be affected by my BK due to this law. ANY THOUGHTS?
