Default Do I Have Any Tenant Rights?

My question involves a roommate in the State of: California

Per a verbal agreement, I moved into a two bedroom apt. with my boyfriend and two of his friends. I am the only person not on the lease and the landlord knows this. He too knew I was moving in due to financial issues and went ahead and ran a credit check on me.
Before anyone moved in, my financial issue was known by them and still all agreed to allow me to move in with the understanding that I wouldn't be paying rent, unless extra funds came in, but WOULD split ALL other bills equally. Since having moved in, I have paid all other bills, with rent on occasion when I could afford something, on time. I would give my boyfriend a little money for his share of the rent, because I had something I could give at the time. I even offered to help pay part of a roommates share when he was having some money issues. During the 6mo lease (Jan. thru June.) I have been looking for work (a 2nd job) and haven't had luck till just recently, go figure. I figured this should help ease tension with the rent and hopefully help settle other small/personal issues the other two have.

Right before I get to let anyone know, the two roommates inform my boyfriend that they plan on moving out when the lease is up in a little over 30 days. One of them even said he spoke with the landlord and was apparently ok'd. Since there have been some issues amongst us all, my boyfriend and I felt it would be best then that they move out and we would bring someone else in, renewing the lease and putting me on it this time. Well 4 days into this last month, the roommates have informed my boyfriend that they want me out because I "do not pay rent and my presence upsets them..."
Both my boyfriend and I are confused because they stated they were moving out by the end of the month, so why push me out now, knowing I have no place else to go.

Since the landlord has known that I live here and has not fussed over it or had complaints about any of us, nor increased our rent because of me being here, do I have any legal rights like a 30-day notice to be given by the roommates? Unless the landlord says otherwise...
