    Exclamation What Can I Do?

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Florida

Im 17, I live in clearwater,Fl with my Aunt who is my legal guardian two days ago she was arrested and will be serving jail time i dont have anywhere to go or a job to support myself and i was wondering if emancipation would be the best option since im still attending highschool i was also wondering how long the process would take given the crucial circumstances and if they would provide any kinda of immediate assistance as far as housing and finacial support

Without a job to support yourself emancipation is not an option

Contact the Pinellas County Dept. of Health and Human Services. They have many programs that might be able to provide you with support as your guardian is suddenly out of the picture. You can find info on their programs and contact info at

You will need to hold that job for several months and there are many other factors. Less than 1% of all petitions are successful.
