Default Re: Child Told To Bring A Parent To Court

I've been advised that it may be possible to appear on a date earlier than the one for which the postponed trial has been scheduled. I understand that as long as one shows up for a trial on or before the date suggested on their summons or other paperwork, they should be fine. Does this ring true for the postponed trial as well? Then I might be able to show up with my son.

When you called the judge's office and asked his clerk these questions, what did they say?

You can usually arrange to go to court in advance of a trial date, for example, to enter a guilty plea. Is that what you mean?

I would appreciate it if the less helpful members of this forum were to keep their comments to themselves. Whether I'm going to a 3rd row Yankees game or whether I have commitments to keep so that I can feed my family makes no difference. And it's not something that is up for judgement by the members of this forum, who are ignorant of most of the circumstances surrounding my situation. It's also not up for your judgement whether or not my domestic solution is adequate. What the members of this forum CAN judge though (which is the reason i came here) is whether or not I am legally bound to appear at court, or if this is just the judge's "suggestion" (for lack of a better term).
And you don't think the judge is going to ask what is more important than appearing in his/her courtroom with your child? After being specifically asked to do so?

A judge that would stop your son's hearing until a parent could be present was not making a suggestion.
