Default Roommate Left With No Forwarding Address Or Phone Number

My question involves a roommate in the State of: OHIO

    Hello,
This is bit of a Jerry Springer love triangle, i'm sorry. We split up in 2004. I was with this woman for 10 years and we have 3 children. I have full custody of our children who are 7, 9, and 11 years old.

Her and I remained friends. She has a 2 year old now (not mine). She told me that she wanted to leave the babies father, but she couldn't do this because she has no car, no Job and no income, & no place to live.

I let her and the babie move in 2 months ago. Since this time we had a falling out and she left last Friday. I have no way to contact her and do not have her babies dads phone number or address or any contact information. This is who I know she went to. All I know is he lives in Northern Ohio. She left me a nasty note that says "good luck getting me to pay any child support nobody well ever find me."

My question is : What do I do with all her stuff? Everything from baby clothing to washers and drier, microwave(s) TV(s) game systems, computer software Computer parts and monitors. Alot of the stuff I know is the guy that she went back with... You name it I have my 1 car garage packed with her stuff from her old house.

Don't want to be evil, but its a mess and I am moving soon. A friend of mine sugested that since I don't have a forwarding address I would have to try list a notice in the news papers, another said to move it to storage but do I have to pay the storage bill?

Please advise if you can. Thank you for your time

I also wanted to add that she left her 6-9 month old sheltie dog. What do I do with that? Am I responsible for taking all necessary steps to ensure the dogs taken care of? Don't get me wrong, I would never harm it of neglect it.

My question is what is the procedure for abandoned animals? Can I legally give it away to a good home or take it to the humane society? Again I am moving soon so the dog at very least must go.

    Thank you for your time

Lightbulb Re: Roommate Left With No Forwarding Address Or Phone Number

Well, I am in Oregon, with a very similar situtaion. But this was a Rottweiler. Imade multiple attempts to have roommate come and get dog, and remove her stuff.
One day 2 satursdays a go, the dog pushed past me (try to stop a 110 lb Rottweiler) and was out the door and down the driveway. This is a nice loving dog that got along with my cats, but was so freaked by the abandonment that it was messing all over the house. anyway dog got out.. lunged at child who was walking her little dog.. I got there tossed my sweatshirt on rotts head and dragged her back into house. When I went to the only address I had.. I was rudley told whatever and had a door slammed in my face. The upside... the management company demanded the removal of the dog. I had called animal control to place a complaint about abuse and abandonment. She came and got dog. the next day animal arrived. Calvery thing.
Hence.. the best thing to do about the dog is call animal control.. report it as abandoned. For me my issue was that this dog was so neglected that her smell has caused my asthma to flair up.. I repeatidly told her to bathe the dog, clips its toe nails.. yadda yadda..
contact animal control due to liability issues,,,, all you need it for that dog to do something that will make you vulnerable to a law suit. Also.. get it out of there before you and your family bond. My 74 year old father bonded, because he cared for this dog for 6 weeks, it was tragic he did not want to give her the dog he wanted animal control to take it and foster it out.
    sorry call animal control!
