My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I was recently charged with a class c misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia. I know that possession of controlled substances results in a removal of federal loans, but does this extend to drug paraphernalia as well?
I've yet to go to my court date, so I'm hoping for the possibility of getting my record expunged/pretrial diversion/something so that it doesn't show up on my record and I don't have to worry about the loans. That being said, my question still stands: what type of "drug" charge will result in a loss of federal funding, and for how long? I've tried searching this website and google, but I can't find a reliable, informative source.
I plan on hiring a criminal defense lawyer (the pipe was found when I was being apprehended for a separate crime), and I'll be asking him. Until that date, however, can anyone help me out?
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks!
