Default Home Inspector Did Not Do His Job

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: SC

I had a home inspection prior to buying my home (Oct 2005) and found out in August 2007 that there is black mold covering the insulation in my crawl space. When I had an estimate for the mold, he said that that type of mold couldn't just have gotten there and had most likely been there for more than 2 years. Do I have any recourse?

Don't home inspectors usually have clauses limiting damages to the cost of the inspection (typically $300-400)? Maybe it wasn't visible when they inspected. Just a thought. Did the mold guy test the mold to verify is toxicity yet? Some are harmless, others are deadly.
