My question involves criminal law for the state of: Puerto Rico (USA territorries) .
Greetings, I'm new to this online forum and I will like a little help with something going on a case. I'm currently on a case in which I claimed the police a man got onto my car without my consent and made me go to an ATM drivethru and give him my money. The thing is that I sort of messed up in the way I explained it al to the police (I'm 18, college student, really got nervous). The thing is I actually knew the man a little, for he was a "bum" that used to wonder where I lodge. The thing is I actually gave the man a lift and it was then that he "betrayed" me and made me give him the money once I was in the ATM picking money for my own needs. I kinda sayed he jumped into my car and made me give him the money (that means kidnapping according to a lawyer I talked to). The thing is that even though he did took my money, I really didn't went completely honest ( I was mad) and said this. I really want to just forget this incident (all he took was 120$) and continue on. I still haven't been given a date by the police investigator for the line-up identification. All I have done is to point the man on some mugshots the investigator showed me ( the man had past history of armed robbery). I'm now realizing that what I've done well is serious 9even though he took my money). I want to simply drop this case before it continues to develop. What should I do. I'm kind of skeptic of what to do. Should I tell the investigator or simply tell him i'm not interested in the case? The man is not detained yet nor to this date the police has scheduled a line up for me to identify him. What are my options? I hope you can help me! Thanks guys.
