Exclamation False Domestic Violence Charge In South Carolina

My question involves criminal law for the state of: South Carolina

My now husband got into a disagreement with his ex-wife 3 days before our wedding in SC. He went to pick up his kids after verbally talking to her to ensure she knew (it was his weekend anyway per the divorce decree). When he got to the kids school the teachers wouldn't let him take the kids and we have since found out that she told the school that he was trying to kidnap the children and it wasn't his weekend. She had a problem with them attending our wedding that upcoming weekend.
He decided to go to the police station to let them know what was happening and she followed him there. When they both got out of their respective cars, his son saw him and ran to him. When he picked his son up both his ex-wife and her sister jumped on him right in front of the police station and they started ripping the boy away from him. They all began yelling and cursing and the police came out and handcuffed him. He was yelling that he was going to get custody of his kids and another woman accused him of telling his ex-wife that he would kill her. They arrested him and he had to spend the night in jail. The ex-wife told the police she was in fear for her life and tried to get them to keep him over the weekend (so he would miss the wedding). He went to court the next day and she told the clerk she was not coming because she had to work.

The state pressed dosmetic charges against him and he has to go to court the upcoming friday.

    Facts:
He has been in the US Navy for 12 years
He has kept and has to keep his top secret security clearance and gun clearance.
He has a clean record never in trouble for anything other than one speeding ticket.
He has court ordered joint custody where he gets the kids every other weekend.
The weekend before this incident he was in Virginia and we have proof so he could not have had the kids that weekend.
He had the kids in his custody the day before, dropped them off at home without incident and even had plans of taking them to the doctor the next day.

What should we expect? Is there a way to make this go away? How can we get across the fact that all of this happened because he was remarrying? Do we need a lawyer and if so, a South Carolina lawyer or a Florida (where we reside & where the divorce took place) lawyer?

He should get help from a criminal defense attorney in the state where he is charged.
