My question involves an eviction in the state of: NC
I moved in with a friend back in January. He did not ask for a security deposit and I did not sign a lease. There was no other verbal arrangement either. He told me how much to pay and I paid it every month. After me being there a little more than a month he asked me to move out. He said he would give me 60 days to find a new place. I paid rent for Feb and he said I could give him what I thought was 'fair' for March since I decided to move back home to SC. Now he's threatening to sue me for the remainder of what he says I owe him. I was out of the apartment by the agreed upon date and he waited almost two months to say anything to me about this. I had to leave all of my furniture behind and some of my dishes. He said this wasn't a problem that he would either sell them or use them.
Can he sue me? What are my rights in this case? Again, there was no lease and I did pay him in full every month except for March when he said for me to give him a fair amount for my trouble.
Any help here will be appreciated. I'm not in NC anymore and don't want to get sued and not know my rights.
