Angry Failure To Yield To Flashing Red Light In Florida

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Florida

Today I received a ticket for failure to yield to a flashing red light.
I received this ticket from one of the university police officer's at my college.

After the leaving the parking garage on my campus I made a right turn, and then I came to another intersection that had a flashing red light. At this intersection I entered the left turning lane and waited for each car to go threw the intersection safely.

After each car went threw the intersection, I proceeded to make a right turn. Also as I made my right turn, there was a truck to the right of my vehicle that went the intersection at the same time. However the police officer issued me a ticket and stated that I could have caused an accident at this intersection because I did not stop like I was suppose to. Also the police officer stated that he had to slam on his brakes because otherwise he would have hit me.

I told the police officer that he arrived at the intersection well after I had arrived the intersection and it was my turn to proceed threw this intersection. I also asked the police officer "If I am at fault for yield at this intersection, then so is the black truck that was to my right that went threw the intersection as the time as me."

The officer's responded that with " I did not pull the black truck over I pulled you over and you are at the one at fault for not yielding! Besides I am only one police officer I can not pull everyone over."

    My question is this:
Can I fight this ticket or should I simply pay the $123 ticket?

    As a side note:
-This police officer made a serious u-turn to pull me over, it would have been safer for him to pull the black truck over at this intersection.

    - Traffic school is not an option for me since I went to traffic school in October .

    "Through", not "threw" Heavens.

Yes, pay the ticket. If the truck was to the right of you and you were turning right, you could have indeed caused an accident.

"He didn't pull that other guy over!" is not a defense.

Missy, I think she meant that she was in the leftmost of two lanes that are for right turns only. So as long as the rightmost lane is also a "right turn only", there wouldn't be an accident.

But, yes, "threw" is past tense of "throw". "Through" is one possible way to go at an intersection. And with that, I'm thru, er threw, er through -- yah!

    Yes, exactly.

If these kids want help, they need to write a bit more clearly, as crotchety grammar Nazis such as myself don't have a lot of patience for sorting through this stuff.
