Default Halfway house to 20 yrs deportation..hmmm..

    Hello,
How can someone go from a halfwayhouse to being deported for 20 yrs.. By the way I was a first time offender who happened to have lived in the states since the age of 5 now 38. I'd like to know
how long must one stay out before re-entering. A friend of mine who has worked for Immigration lawyers said to me that if you are deported 10 years the actual time is 5 years because day and night are considered. My question is in my case how long would suggest I wait before of course hiring a lawyer re-entering the country. I also want to deliver a message to who ever may read this (recently deported) Don't get down ,move forward, the states creates people who are survivors. It won't be easy but you can do it! Hire a good lawyer and walk on eggshells once back in the states. Ok back to meeeeeee!! what do you suggest???

Default 20 year exclusion from United States

The period of exclusion is, in fact, the period of exclusion. A day = 24 hours. 20 years = 20 calendar years.

You are correct, that it makes sense to work with an immigration lawyer.
