My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
I was behind perhaps 5 cars before an intersection. There is a yellow "area" before the left turn lane pocket. I entered this yellow area and proceeded about 4 car lengths before reaching the left turn lane pocket. I was then pulled over by a deputy for traveling more than 200 feet in the yellow area (CVC 21460.5).That was all that was written on the citation. The average car is about 15 feet long, so I definitely travelled less than even 100 feet to reach the lane. There were no cars oncoming on the other side, and no car had activated a left blinker on my side.
When I also asked for a warning, he specifically said "I can't give you a warning, it's an infraction." If I am correct, under California law, ANY one-point infraction can be given a warning, and with that statement, would he be violating the no-quota law (CVC 41602)?
Thanks.
