Default Can I Be Sued By My Employer

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: New Jersey

I work for a small company and since I worked there I have never signed any non-compete papers. Actually I have never signed any sort of contract or anything. My question is that I have recently started my own side business and do some work wth some people in the same industry. Can I be sued by my current employer if they found out?

Default Re: Can I Be Sued By My Employer

In the US, anyone can be sued by anyone else for virtually anything.

As long as you're not poaching clients or inappropriately using knowledge acquired at your job, you should be OK. You might want to consult an attorney just in case, though.
