    Default Property Stolen from Workplace

    Please help!
I had my car stolen when my bag, which was in an office at my workplace, was stolen. I have a large shortfall from my insurance company, and want to know if I can claim compensation from my employer. I'm out of pocket £5000.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Property Stolen at Work

Probably not. First, it was probably not your employer's duty to safeguard your bag. Second, it is questionable whether the theft of your car, and your having insufficient insurance coverage resulting in a loss, would be a foreseeable consequence of your having your bag stolen. If you want to be certain, consult a local lawyer.
