Default Change A Mortgage From Re-Affirm To Non Re-Affirm

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: California

I have filed chapter 7 in Los Angeles and have a home in Virgina that I was renting out. At first I was going to re-affirm the debt and keep the house. Since filing I found out that my renter had moved out over two months ago. I had a property managment firm handling the house and they forgot to tell me.

Since learning this and being unemployed for the past two months and still no job, I have found myself not being able to make the payments. I am currently a month behind with this months payment due.

My question is- Can I change the re-affirm status to no re-affirm and if so how to go about it? Do I go to the filing office and talk with the clerk about this and have them change it? I have my creditor meeting on May 23, 2008 and do I have to have this done prior to this meeting?

At first I was confused about the status of the home since I live in Calif. and the home is in VA. But the clerk never said anything. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Do you have a bankruptcy lawyer - did you tell him you want to do this?
