I was living with a man whom I loved very much, I have lived here Oct. 1 was 2 years. I sold my home and land to move in with him, we were in a relationship, and lived and thought of one another as Husband and Wife. He has passed away and there was no will, and his 2 children are having to file probate.
The thing is, when I came here the place was about to fall down, it was grown up so badly, and over the coarse of this time frame, he and I have remodeled completely inside/out, and he and I both have bought materials, worked and did it all together without any help from his children.
I did not keep receipts of all that I bought, nor did I write any statements of all the work I did, but the entire neighborhood knows what I have done here, and what it was like prior to me.
I know they will have to get a appraisal and the thing is, with all we did together just the two of us, it will be worth more now, "thanks 1/2 to me". I am going to have to move, but they are right now seeming to want to let me stay for a SHORT while. They are intending on selling the place.
He had told me if anything happend to him that as far as he was concerned I could live here as long as I liked, but without that in writing I am pretty much "well, you know"
Do I have any rights, what do I need to do to enforce those right?
I told them "if it was not insured and paid off, I wanted to take over the payment" after all, with all I have invested, I feel that is enough of a downpayment. They never spent a single red cent, nor did they even do 1 minute of work. I and I alone did so with him.
I live in Florida. We had animals together, we had done so very much, together and the things we had, and did show that we had intentions of being here together for a very long time.
