Unhappy Co-Lessee Won't Pay Rent Over Summer

My question involves a roommate in the State of: Texas

I am asking this on behalf of my girlfriend. Here are the facts as of now:

-Both my GF and her roommate are signed on the lease
-Roommate refuses to pay or be responsible in anyway for her half of the rent
-Mt GF can not afford to pay full rent
-Roommate claims there was a oral agreement for my GF to cover the whole lease over the summer
-My GF says there was no such agreement.
-Roommates father will possibly seek legal action against my GF.

    My question is:
a)Can my GF sue roommate for her rent
b)If contract is broken can my GF sue for breach of contract fees from her roommate
c)Does roommates father have any grounds for legal action against my GF?

I appreciate any help in the matter considering this will put my GF into large debt if she ends up paying for everything.

    Thanks

Typically, each person on the lease is responsible for the entire rent. The landlord doesn't care what the splitting arrangement is - if one roommate chooses not to pay her share, he'll just demand it all from the other one.

    A) Yes. And she should.

    B) Yes. And she should.

    C) No.

For what? From what you say, he doesn't live there and he's not on the lease. What has she done to him? For that matter, other than responding to her roommate's rather absurd notion that despite being on the lease she should be able to live in the apartment rent-free, what has she done to her roommate?
