    Default Wrongful Termination

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California

Question is surrounding reasons for termination. Friend of mine has worked for the same company for 5 years. He quit his emplyment due to his boss claims that he will be terminated due to a few complaints by other employees.

Apparantly there are new people in his work and had dug dirt on him to try and get his job. The dirt was that, he has been making empty promises, does not work hard, has issues with attendance.

Well he claims that he does have a few weeks of vacation and sick leaves and he uses them when needed and he does forget things here and there. Does that constitute grounds for termination? If he did not quit and was termination, could that he have a case against the employer?

    Default Re: Wrongful Termination

No, he would have had no case against the employer if he had been terminated. He could have been terminated at any time for any reason not prohibited by law (ie age, religion, gender) or unless he had a bona fide employment contract or CBA to the contrary. That's at-will employment.

    I see nothing illegal here.
