My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: NJ

I have been terminated by a my current employer on May 5th (although I received notice today that was generated on may 7th)
I have been given two weeks notice period pay as per the contract, but when I joined the company in jan 2008 I was given assurance by one of the managers there that my project will last for 1 and 1/2 year and may extend but that was ended in 10 weeks and after keeping me on bench for 6 weeks (with pay) I have been terminated because they were not able to find project for me.

When I was joining this company I had two more offers and i selected this company after assurance of tenure of my project that comes out to be false and I am terminated for no project.

My Questions is:
- what is the obligation on employer of that assurance and its falsehood
- I received notice that was issued on 7th may that states my last day was may 5th is it alright that they can terminate me in back dates?
- Is my employer obligated to pay reasonable amount for me to go back to home country (they have revoked h1)
