My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: NY
I was told that Chapter 13 remains in our record for about 10 years. Does it start counting from the day you file or on the day you are discharged?
Thank you.

A Chapter 7 bankruptcy may display on your credit report for 10 years from the date of filing. Chapter 13 may stay for 10 years also, but it is customary for those to be removed after 7 years of filing. (They can remove after 7 but they don't have to.)
But, what about chapter 13? Does it stay in your credit report 7 to 10 years from the day you file or from the day you are discharged?
As per my previous reply - Chapter 13 may stay for 10 years also, but it is customary for those to be removed after 7 years of filing. (Whether they leave it on for 10 or 7 years, it is from date of filing)
