My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Colorado
My ex husband was supposed to be paying credit card debt per our divorce decree. He defaulted and now a law office is seeking payment. Since they add about $6 per day interest on this and since apparently 5 years plus has passed, they want me to cough up $25,000.00. This is not going to happen. They are not very helpful, but did say they'd take $17,000.00 today. Still not happening.
I have since remarried and my name is on the title of our home. Should I cancel all joint bank accounts, get a quit-claim and file it for our home? I want o protect my/our current assets and since the original credit card was in my name, they say ex-hubby is not responsible to them, only to me.
Any advice?
Thank you in advance!
