    Default Confusing Questions

I am not sure exactly what you are asking.

For your first post, if you are concerned that the jury was improperly instructed, the ordinary remedy would be to pursue an appeal. You may wish to discuss with your attorney whether an appeal remains possible, and if it would be likely to improve your situation.

For your second post, if you don't prevail in your appeal, the court will likely apply its present interpretation of the sentence, even if that is not what you understood it to be at the time. Presumably, that is what you are trying to resolve with the appeal.

    Default Australian Law

I can't really speak for Australia, but in the U.S. it would be unusual for a judge to actually provide a copy of a statute to a jury. However if the judge did not know the law, and gave an erroneous or misleading instruction to the jury, the defendant might have a viable issue for appeal.
