My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: illinois
hello-
i rent in a building that is organized as follows: the first floor store front is a hair salon with 3 stylist booth renters, including the landlord's daughter. i rent the back half of the first floor for a retail business and the upstairs is an apartment.
the problem is that the landlord rents the apartment to his stylist daughter, who has a daughter and small dog. the 4 year-old unsupervised child is constantly in the salon and in my half of the first floor, which is frustrating as we try to maintain some level of professionalism. in addition, the dog is frequently left alone and barks incessently and is heard on the first floor, which is annoying for us the renters and our customers.
what can we do? is there a law about children in the workplace for the stylists who pay booth rent for their space in the salon? what about me? do i have the right to say that the granddaughter is not allowed in my business?
AND the dog? how do we handle the nuisance and noise of the dog legally?
the landlord has said that the stylists cannot tell him where his granddaughter can or cannot go in his building.
thank you for your help.
