My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Colorado.
I don't quite know if I have a case against my ex-employer or not. I was terminated from my job 3 days ago (I have not received my final paycheck as of yet) with 2 different reasons for termination. First, I am a part time employee and they are laying off anyone who cannot work 40 hours AND 5 days per week. When I told them that no one has asked me to work those hours and that I could do it that is when I was told the other reason for termination.
The 2nd reason is that I knew how much other people in the workplace made per hour so my boss assumed that I "rummaged" through his office to find personal information about employees. Not once did anyone discuss this with me, they just terminated my employment .
Some history for you: I have never been written up or had a verbal warning at this job, I have worked for them off and on for 8 years. I have never rummaged through the office, they have cameras throughout the building that could prove that.
Also: They also informed another employee that I was being terminated before they terminated me, can they do that? As far as the part time empolyment goes, only 2 out of 7 employees and 5 "supervisors" had to change their hours the others are still part time or 4 days per week. And finally, they proceeded to inform the other employees of why I had been terminated (the rummaging through the office reason) after I was terminated, are they allowed to discuss my reasons for termination with other employees?
Any information would be appreciated and thank you
