Default Want To Change My Last Name To My Mother's Maiden Name

My question involves name change laws in the State of: Illinois

I am 16 and having a baby, i want to change my last name from my fathers to my mothers maiden name. My parents have been divorce for 13 years. the boi father of my child is not in the picture and so the baby when born will get my last name. I do not like my last name, plus my father is an alcoholic and puts his girlfriends and the bar before me, and has for a long time. I want my child to have my mothers maiden, and i want it to. i will be 17 in aug. and the baby is due in november. My father would never agree to this, can i do it with out his permission? I home school and have for about 2 years now i will graduate by the end of the year. I also have a full time job. I live with my mother and have all my life. My parents have joint custody But, My mother have custodial custody. I also plan to attend college in the fall of 09.

Please help me, any information is greatly appreciated.

You may not, as a child, have a name change without the permission of BOTH of your parents.

Concentrate on raising or finding an adoptive home for your child. Changing your name doesn't change who you are. In about 15 years when you grow up, you may figure that out.
