Default Shoplifting By A 17 Year Old

Two years ago(while I was 17) I did something stupid, I shoplifted at Kohls in Massachusetts. I was arrested, but the charges were dismissed. It was a horrible and embarrassing experience. I have never, nor plan to, do it ever again.

Now, two years later, Kohls calls me every day telling me I have to pay them money or they will take me to court.

Is there a statute of limitations? Can they still sue me for something that two full years ago?

Did you ever receive a civil demand?

I'm not quite sure what that is. I got a letter from them a couple months after it happened saying that they wanted me to pay them off or they would take me to court. I ignored it. Recently, I started getting voicemails every day from them.
