My question involves criminal records for the state of: New Mexico, Albuquerque.

13 years ago, at the age of 14, I took part in breaking into school lockers and theft. I was charged with multiple felonies at the time, but my parents say they worked very hard to make sure the record was expunged at my 18th birthday. My parents and I cannot remember what the final ruling was -- whether it was a felony or misdemeanor. I never went to any form of jail and had to do 100 hours of community service along with restitution (everything stolen ended up being returned).

My questions are these:
- I am strongly considering employment with the local police department or fire department. Do I need to worry about my record as a juvenile?
- Do I need to list that I was convicted of a felony or misdemeanor?
- How can I go about "testing" to see if my record is indeed well hidden?
- If faced with a polygraph, how should I answer this stuff?

Also, on a side note, at the age of 18 I changed lanes into another car and freaked out. I ran and of course was caught. I was charged with "accident involving damage to vehicle -- traffic" and "careless driving". I don't think they were misdemeanors and certainly not felonies. Would this cause any problems for me on an application to the police or FD?

I've not committed any crimes aside from the above mentioned.

Thank you very much in advance.
