Default Terminated for inappropriate supplier relations with approva

I was terminated today for a series of supposed allegations. I sat through an investigation which I was led down a path of questions that made me look guilty. I was told what to right during the inquisition. I was not allowed to add my own comments. I then amended the statement to tell the entire story, which I am not sure was ever reviewed. Therefore, I was terminated for the serious allegations that were a result of the investigation. Furthermore, the allegation that I am now terminated for, I had my bosses approval of at the time. The issue was brought up to him and he approved. Should I pursue legal action?

I am not an expert on employment issues, but most states follow "employment at-will", which means that either party can terminate the relationship for any reason that is not considered unlawful. Unlawful termination gets its basis in defamation. If you are terminated for a reason that is not true, you become defamed every time you put in an application for employment when you have to reveal the reason for termination or risk losing the job or job offer for being untruthful on your application. If this fits your situation you may have a case. But keep in mind that it is your burden to prove the employer wrong and that prosecuting a case of unlawful termination is not so simple. You should consider a consultation with a lawyer which can be free if you go to the right lawyer.
