    Default Access To Rental House

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: PA

how much advance notice does the landlord have to give you before they come over to the rental house? the landlord has left articles in the garage and then gives us a call 1 hour before she comes over. is this right? it is a 2 car garage and she has given us the use of 1 side and she has the other side. are we suppose to get more notice than 1 hour?

    Take it easy.

I'm a landlord, and if I made an arrangement where I keep some of my stuff on one side of the garage, I would expect access to my own stuff in a reasonable fashion, and I wouldn't even need to notify you becaue I'm going into my own half of the garage, not the other half that you rented from me. If I called to say I'm coming in an hour, it's out of courtesy, and not because I am required too.

You also have to look at the landlord as a "person", as I look at the tenant as a "person". If you start telling him or her you can't do this, you can't do that, well, that the way you'll be treated too.

Can't you give someone a break?? Maybe someone really needs his or her stuff really quick.

Was talking to my wife the other day about our seeing a lot less of our freinds and relatives in recent years compared to when we were kids, and we concluded the reason is everytime we do things these days, it's a apointment we have to make three months ahead, at a specific hour. Seems everything from doctors, dentists, to seeing a friend needs a two weeks notice.

    What's the world coming to??

geez, i only asked a question. i was just curious since it would be unpleasant if we have people over or are having a party and this landlord just shows up. a little privacy is all i ask for. or at least advance warning. let alone she does go into our side that we rented out. so i think at least more than 1 hour notice would be nice

The way we've worked with our tenants, we've been lenient with them, and them with us. So we've been by when some of them had parties, and even had us join them for a drink, and a bite to eat. I feel better when they treat me like a friend, and don't squawk about privacy..

And if you don't want to be that chummy, just have her pick up the stuff and leave. She doens't come by every day, does she??

If I was in the tenant's shoes, I want to work with the landlord as much as possible, so when I need a break, I get one too. Maybe someday, you need that day or so extra to come up with the rent.

I always beleive in the theory that one hand washes the other. I'm nicer to tenants that cut me a break.
