SF - That is hilarious!
When I worked for the credit and collection agencies we would have salespeople call asking for the person who made decisions. My manager already had all of his suppliers lined up, so he always took the call. When he took the call he would say that Mike Johnson is out, but you can try his direct line at 4PM. His direct line was usually the detectives at the police department and one of his buddies was a detective down there and happened to be "Mike Johnson."

Every now and then we got an angry sales guy calling back and my manager would give them another number. One sales guy got really mad and asked to speak witht he manager. My manager looked at our debt software. In the computer he found the sales guy had some collections. We had the salespersons name and employer and they matched who he was selling for!

There were a few times that this happened and my manager sometimes worked out deals with them to get it off their credit if they paid the bill and made us a good deal on whatever they were selling (printing or office supplies, usually). We were only 1 of 2 agencies in town but had 90% of the business. Sometimes we got a PIF as a settlement that was client-approved and had new office chairs.
