My question involves defamation in the state of: New York
My boss wrote an email to HR saying that I did not follow a protocol that was given to me and that I didn't follow it on purpose and I was accused verbally of stealing a power point presentation for distribution. I was not ever given any protocol to which she refers in her email to HR and I did not steal a PPT but have been accused of that by my boss to HR which ruins my chances of promotion and defames my character. Do I have a case?
