Default Security Guard Claims He Was Pushed

My question involves criminal law for the state of: illinois....

My family went to visit a friend whose complex had our car towed a couple of weeks ago even though she gave a parking pass. So last night we were there visiting again. I tried to locate the patroling security to alert them to our visit in the hopes of preventing our car from being towed again. I never found security so i stayed in the front room to keep an eye on the car. well when my boyfriend stepped outside for a smoke with his brother they spotted the security gaurd kneeling down behind our car. He approched the security gaurd to talk to him about the previous tow trying to get an understanding of why our car was towed at our last visit when the security gaurd refused to give him any info he asked for the security companies phone # to which the gaurd refused to give this caused my very drunk boyfriened to get mad and begin yelling and screaming and the gaurd. By this point everybody who was inside visiting was now outside watching. I walked in between the two and tried to explain the situation to the gaurd in a calmer tone to which i was ignored as well. but the gaurd and my boyfriend parted ways so that should have been the end of that. well the next thing i know the police are out front and the gaurd is now stating that he was pushed by my boyfriend and would like to sign a complaint. my boyfriend stayed in the house since when he is drunk he's loud and the police would probably take it as misconduct and arrest him. i talked to the police gave them my boyfriend's info and explained the situation to them. they now request that my boyfriend come in tonight at the start of their shift and explaing the situation to them while he's sober. my questions.....Can they arrest him? (he does have a background) The gaurd wasn't pushed and everybody who was outside can attest to that. It's his word against the gaurds but what should we expect once we go in to the police department which they say we must do otherwise a warrant will be issued.

Expect to be thoroughly questioned about the incident and expect to be asked to provide names, addresses and phone numbers of your witnesses.

It's pretty unlikely he'll be taken into custody, unless he does something dumb, like showing up blasted or being belligerent to the police.
