Question Dropping Charges Against A Minor Who Is Being Charged As Adult

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
How do I drop a charge on a minor who is now being charged as an adult by the state. The state did not inform me they changed the charge from minor to prosecute as adult. The minor had a previous record from school police. I am getting the run around with the police department and don't know who to contact to have the charges dropped. Can you help. I assume it could be the new atty who was assigned the case recently but he will not be available because on another case at the moment. What can I do to have them dropped?

It will be up to the District Attorney as to whether or not the charges can be dropped.

I have no say so as the parent of the prosecuting minor child involved? What rights DO I have as the parent prosecuting then if I can't drop the charges? Shouldn't there at least be some couseling while the minor is in custody? None of the contacts for victim services or the atty have indicated he is receiving help for his crime.

You are not the one prosecuting, a crime has been reported and the prosecuting attorney must have felt that there was enough evidence available to charge the teen with a crime.

You can express your desire not to have the teen charged to the DA, but that doesn't mean it will get dropped.

Your rights to control the situation stopped as soon as the police were contacted. The police took control of the situation. Now the DA/ADA is in control of the situation.

The only control that you have is to express your concerns to the DA and hope that the kid's parents get him/her a really good attorney and can work out a good plea deal.

You get to watch this kid's life be destroyed because they broke the law. It's their fault. Do the crime, pay the time!

...you have zero rights in this; you can even be compelled (nice word for forced) to testify against your will. If you don't testify you can be imprisoned in the local jail for 30 days or more and fined thousands of dollars.
