I stole somthing but I did not get caught. But I think the cameras saw me. I made a legit purchase earlier. I was wondering if they did see it on camera.. if they could trace me back and get my address and other info?
Thanks

Yes, it's possible.

Yes they can pull your name off of your credit card purchase and trace it back to you. I am sorry to hear that this has happened to you.
Take Care
will the police come to my house? will i get something in the mail? how long do you think it would take?
If the police do come to my house should i admit to it or will they search my house or take me to the station?
thanks for the quick replies
So far with what my best friend is going through they will be able to get a search warrant. Then they will come to your house and look for the item or items in question.
Here are the steps that happened last night to my friend.
The police showed up at her door with a search warrant.
They went through her house with a list of items that they were looking for.
They found two items of like 8 or 9 listed and took her into the station.
They booked her and took her finger prints.
This time she lawyered up and did not say anything to them at all.
If they do pick you up do not say anything to them at all. From everything I am reading I would just lawyer up and let the lawyer take you through the process.
Take care and good luck to ya!
ok thanks.. it was a pair of sunglasses ($70).. i dont think they will find it if they do end up searching..
If they saw that I took something but dont know what it was exactly.. what can they do?
do you mean if the police come to my house.. dont say anything to them?
whats the probability that LP will report this and take the time to retrace and find who i am?
how much longer do i need to worry?
You can be charged for shoplifting until the statute of limitation runs out. Usually 1-2 yrs.
You probably have nothing to worry about if you stay out of the store (and nearby chain's if there are any) and of course, don't steal again.
LP's can cover more than one store. They can get a picture of your mug and watch you when you come in. If caught, and they have you on tape from previous thefts, they can use the previous theft against you. Once the monies add up, if it's considerable then you could be charged with a felony, just depends on the laws of your state.
If they have you for previous thefts do they have to catch you the next time if they do not know what you took the previous times?
If evidence exist of prior theft and that evidence was saved yes you can be stopped
