Theft From Employer

hello i live in wilkes-barre, pennsylvania, back in dec 2007 i was fired from a job due to thefting, i signed a paper stating what i did, and that i would pay all the money back the amount was $300, i went to the police station on my own with the police officer, he let me drive myself, i filled out another paper there, got was told i would recive something in the mail, i did in march 3 months after this happened, this is the first time i have ever done something sooo stupid, i have a 7 month old son, currently enrolled in college due to graduate in august, i cant afford something happeing to me, i know it stupid but i was going through a tough time, when i asked the officer if i was going to jail he said if the amount was more than yes, but no, now what can i expect at my preliminary heargin tuesday... any help thank you
