Default Statute Of Limitations For Petty Theft In South Carolina

If I was caught shoplifting, but the police were not called or involved in any way, do I have a record? I paid a fine to the store and that was it.

If criminal charges were not filed there is no record outside of retailer or any retail database they might have entered your name in

Im in South Carolina, and I have paid the civil demand. It has been about a year and a half. Can they still prosecute me?
