I have been dating my boyfriend for about two years. It is a very serious relationship and we have always thought we would get married we just weren't going to rush things because of our age...
His family came here and filed for asylum but the U.S. rejected their claim and has now ordered them to go back to their home country.
He has one month left... which isn't much time at all.
Now I am aware that the government does not care if he is the love of my life or not... But we do have one option and that is for him to marry me because I am a U.S. citizen...
I am totally unfamiliar with this and I have absolutely no idea what to do. And we don't have much time to figure things out!
Can someone please tell me if we get married will that allow him to stay? He did overstay his visa but I read somewhere that he could just have his status adjusted usually.
And if we do have enough time for us to get married and continue our life together... what steps do we take?
Do we just go to the courthouse and get married or what? And after that the immigration officers come to talk to us or what exactly happens!?
I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do. And I am trying to do some research but it is all so confusing. I will greatly appreciate any help I can get.
Thank you.
