Here's what happened:
I was stopped by the store's security after I had stepped outside of the store. I was then told to sign a piece of paper that said I would never step foot inside the store again and the cops came. I was taken to and kept in the police station for several hours for fingerprinting and paperwork. When I was released, I was given a court date.
I live in Illinois, this was my 1st arrest, and I'm a college student.
What will happen in court?
Will this affect my qualification for financial aid?
And how do I find a lawyer who can help me free of charge because I'm extremely poor and unfamiliar with shoplifting laws?
