Question Canadian Resident Working In Nevada

A friend of mine owns an entertainment company. One of her performers is a resident of Canada. In the US, we have to fill out W9 forms for taxes. Does anyone know what paperwork she has to file to the IRS for the Canadian resident? He has a work visa and pays taxes in Canada. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A pretty good explanation at http://taxes.about.com/od/taxplanning/qt/form_W8BEN.htm regarding "contract employees"/contractors.

Thanks for the information. I found on the IRS site that he must have an ITIN. He said his tax attorney in CA says he does not need one. Does anyone know of a reason why he would not need one? She has not hired him yet, but does not want to hire him illegally.
